Hello everyone ♥
In March I’ve posted review about Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation (here: http://preslavasbeautydiary.blogspot.bg/2017/04/reviewbourjois-healthy-mix-foundation_12.html)
and I mentioned that I want to test another 2 of Bourjois foundations. I like
Healthy Mix but since is already summer and temperatures are getting higher and
higher every day I can’t use it anymore – I have really oily skin and its dewy
finish isn’t suitable for me anymore (when temperatures are over 15о) so
I have to put it back into my “winter makeup” drawer and I’ll wear it again in
the autumn and winter.
For the summer I need light foundation that has matte
finish and I was doubting between Bourjois Air Mat and Bourjois City Radiance but after
parallel testing I choose the first one – Air Mat in the
shade 03 Beige Clair.
A few words about City Radiance – I really like it’s
consistency and the high SPF but it’s finish is quite dewy as well (and that
makes it non suitable for really oily skins) so I decided this one isn’t the
best choice for me.
I wanted to give Air Mat a try ever since Bourjois
launched it in Bulgaria and I’ve tested it only twice (usually I test new
foundation 3 to 4 times before buy) and I got it.
I want to mention that I have really oily skin, some
wide pores around my nose area and I want a foundation that has lightweight and
easy to apply consistency, semi-matte or matte finish, good longevity (it’s
must for oily skin) and middle coverage.
Air
Mat’s color selection has 5 shades and all of them have yellow undertone
(Yayy!) It’s really difficult to find a foundation with
yellow undertone here in Eastern Europe and the only brand that has yellow tone
based foundations is Bourjois so that’s why I’m testing out their foundation
and powder range. It’s not easy to have yellow-ish skin in this part of the
world :D
The
shade I choose is 03 Beige
Clair - to be honest it’s a
tiny bit dark for me but I get tan really easy so I decided to go for a darker
shade for the summer but in the rest of the year 02 Vanilla would be a perfect
match for me. I was nicely surprised to see that the shades of the different
foundations match – I’m sing Healthy Mix #52 Vanilla and Air Mat 02 Vanilla is
matching my skin perfect as well. Here is comparison between Air Mat 03 Beige Clair and Healthy
Mix 52 Vanilla:
Air Mat comes
in a plastic tube, contains the
regular amount of 30ml product and
has a cucumber & sea scent
(actually it smells just like the perfume by Adidas “Pure Lightness” but let’s not
get into details #idohavegoodnose), which you can’t feel once after application. It has mousse consistency which is light
and airy – I owned 2 or 3 mousse foundations and all of them had thick
consistency I could feel them on my skin after application but Air Mat isn’t
like this. The name matches 100% -
this light and airy mousse is easy to
apply, I can’t feel it once I’ve
applied it, it has matte finish
right after application – you don’t have to wait it to set and you can
apply your blush and highlighter right after and they won’t look cakey or wet. You have to work fast when applying, because
you have seconds to blend into the skin. I always use foundation brush to apply
my foundation and I don’t get any bristles marks on my face but I buff and
blend well. If you use your fingers for application you won’t have any problems
to blend. I have to say that this
product isn’t frugal which isn’t
minus for me but if you’re looking for frugal product then keep this in mind.
Coverage
is middle – it covers light spots and redness, but I don’t think it will cover
deep acne scars or hyper pigmentation. You can’t build the coverage, but
I never tend to wear more than 1 coat of foundation and I’m okay with this
fact. Although the matte finish Air
Mat doesn’t make my pores or fine lines
more visible (Yay!). It has matte
finish but it doesn’t look cakey, like mask or super visible – Bourjois clams
undetectable matte finish and I agree. It doesn’t stick into dry patches and it
doesn’t dries out my skin – after removing it I don’t feel any tightness on
my skin. Bourjois guaranties 24-hour
longevity but I can’t agree – well, I haven’t wore it 24 hours but I wear
it on everyday bases between 8 and 16 hours and it looks perfect on me for about 10 hours and after that my skin gets really
oily. Wear alone this foundation
looks matt on me for about 6 hours
(by temperatures over 25о)
and combined with powder my skin is
matte around 8-9 hours. In normal temperatures (15-25о) and dry weather my skin
stays matte for about 10-12hrs. I’m satisfied with the longwear I get – the
8hr minimum is covered and I look
presentable around 10-12 hours (which is half a day though!) If you have
normal, normal oily or combination skin you might get better longevity as well.
I think that foundation and powder should be from
the same brand so they can work well together and I bought Bourjois Loose
Powder in the shade 02 Peach. I set my foundation with it and I get better
longevity (review on the powder will be up soon!)
Air Mat has
SPF 10 – it’s not high and wear SPF cream
underneath (with SPF 30 when I’m in the city and higher when I’m on the beach).
I do like this foundation a lot and beside the fact
that it’s not frugal and it has low SPF
I can’t fine any other cons. I really
like the color selection which is suitable for yellow toned skin, the light
& airy consistency, the way it looks
when applied on my skin and the fact that it doesn’t make my pores and dry
patches more visible (I do own both of those imperfections), longevity is good as well – around 10 hrs in hot & humid weather
and 12 in normal temperatures. My
skin is quite sensitive and Air Mat
doesn’t irritate it. It’s easy to remove
as well – I remove it with my face wash and it’s easy to clean it from my makeup brushes (not like Healthy Mix which
kind of stains the bristles).
I definitely think that Air Mat is a perfect choice for the summer and
it covers my requirements – matte
finish, good longevity on oily skin, lightweight consistency, middle coverage,
SPF. I don’t like to change the
foundations I’m using very often and whenever I like one I stick to it for a
very long time or until the brand discontinued it. I would wear Air Mat on everyday bases during
the whole summer and during the warm autumn days and I’m really happy that I
found it. It fits my needs really well.
I recommend Air Mat to those of you who
have oily to combination skin and are looking for lightweight and matte
foundation. Soon there will be review on the Bourjois Loose Powder in the shade
02 so stay tuned :)
Have you tried Air Mat and what are your thoughts?
Have a nice evening ♥
