Scented Review: B.U. Candy Love EDT (EN)

When I was young teenager B.U.‘s perfumes were super popular and almost every girl own one of them. I had 4 and I really like them and used them on everyday bases. Then I discovered higher end perfumes and I haven’t try any other B.U.’s product until the summer of 2015, when I accidently tried one of their newest perfumes - CandyLove. I instantly remember why I used to like them so much back in the days. I was surprised to see that B.U. has launched new perfumes –HippieSoul (in 2011), FreeSpirit (in 2012), FancyCinderella (in 2013) и CandyLove (in 2014).

I have worn CandyLove during the whole humid summer and a few weeks ago I started using it again – great choice for the spring & summer.

History:

B.U. Candy Love is a sweet and girly scent that starts with strawberry accord, continuing with the heart of jasmine and cornflowers and ending with the base of sandalwood, vanilla and praline. CandyLoveis B.U.‘s newest fragrance(launched in 2014г.)

Description:

Top notes:strawberry

Middle notes:jasminandbluecornflower

Base notes:sandalwood, vanilla and pralines

Development on my skin:

When first sprayed I smell sweet and fragrant strawberries, slightly topped with some powdered sugar.In a fewminutes I feelthe flowery freshness of jasminand the strawbery’s sweetness that’s calming down. Mynosecouldn‘t register the blue cornflower at all, I found only the jasmin noticeable. After half an hour when sprayed the base notes are in – light and sweet vanilla and wood suspicion of sandalwood. I was sure that Candy Love’s composition seems quite familiar to me and after quick research in my perfume memory I found out - Prada Candy EDT. I find some similarity in those both fragrances, but they’re quite different at the same time and in any case replaceable. Prada Candy EDT it‘s stronger, sharper, it has stronger sillage and it’s way more vanilla-caramelish  and it has way deeper development. CandyLove’s scent it’s smooth and light, really fine and fresh and it has quite linear development. For me Candy Love combines the vanilla-caramel base of Prada Candy with the light and fresh detachment of Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline. Although the pyramid of Candy Love shows it as sickly sweet scent, it is definitely not. Candy Love is fine, slightly vanilla scent with woody suspicion and noticeable jasmine notes. In hot weather I feel the strawberry quite intense, in cold weather I feel the pralines and in humid weather the scent appears as really delicate and even musky.

Packaging:

Candy Love is available as50 ml EDT with an accompanying collection (perfumespray and deodorant).I gotthedeodorantaswellandtomethisnothingbutperfumedsprayandcannotbeusedasanti-perspirant. EDT’s packaging is non-transparent, colored in pink, blue and white – nothing impressive, but perfect to wear in the handbad without carrying if it’s going to broke or etc.

Storage:

EDT is 50ml, perfumed spray is 75ml, deodorant150ml.

Seasonappropriation:

Spring and summer. It’s perfect for cool and humid spring, as well as for dry and hot summer. I wore it during the summer and it was nice in the office at 20 °C, as well as outside at +35°C. I’ve tried wearing it in the early autumn but although the weather was hot and mild I don’t like it for fall – it’s too fresh and delicate and spring & summer suit better.

Time appropriation:

Totally a daytime scent. Delicate, nicely sweet without being sickly or heavy.

Longevity:

Good– in hot & dry weather (30-40°) lasts around 3 hours and I have to reapply 1-2 spritz, but in humid and cooler time (15-20°) I feelitduringthewholedayandevenaftershower. It’s definitely close to skin scent, I feel it when I move and sometimes when there’s light wind. 

B.U  CandyLove for me it’s nice, simple and quite linear floral-vanilla-woody scent, nice choice for an everyday scent during the spring & summer. It combines fine sweetness of strawberry & vanilla, mild woody suspicion (sandalwood) and a lot of floral freshness (jasmine).

I definitely shouldn’t regret B.U.’s fragrances – excellent quality, great fragrances with good longevity and really budget-friendly. Too bad that my old favourites aren’t available any more (Blossom, Heartbeat, Sexy) but I would love to test their new suggestions Hippie Soul, Free Spirit and Fancy Cinderella. I think I would buy Trendy again – it’s still as amazing as it was 7 years ago :)).
