Hello ❤
Today’s review is all
about a Calvin Klein makeup gift set, called Summer Flirt Collection: it
contains mascara, bronzing powder and single eyeshadow.
Calvin Klein’s fragrances
aren’t exactly my cup of tea (the well-known & loved Euphoria is in my top
hated perfumes that could exist) but in terms of makeup this is my first attempt trying
CK’s makeup stuff – a few years ago I was purchasing some things online and I
saw some interesting eyeshadows by CK, but I couldn’t fine proper swatches
online so I end up not purchasing a single thing.
❤ Bronzing powder is in the shade Enhance and contains 7gr. product, placed in a simple & clear packaging with
the logo brand and is in a medium dark, warm brown shade with yellow undertone
and fine golden sheen, that gives the product a nice satin finish.
Consistency is soft, but there is barely any fall outs while dipping my
brush into it, it is easy to apply and blends nicely
into the skin – I apply
those type of products with flat contour brush with natural hair on my cheeks, temples,
both sides of the nose, under my lower lip and in my crease to add some depth
to my face.
Pigmentation is medium – you can
control the intensity of the color, you can add a soft bronze touch to your skin or you
can go for deeper, bolder bronze look.
I compared the Calvin Klein’s bronzing powder
with my 2 other similar products: Max Factor Crème Bronzer in the shade 05 Light Gold (review here, this for me is hands
down the best bronzing product that could exist and I’ve used up at least 5 of
this!)
and the Guerlain’s bronzing powderTerracota in the quite dark
shade 07 Fonce
Dore:
❤ according to Max Factor Crème Bronzer, Enhance is a bit darker and warmer shade, but both
products are quite similar in terms of characteristics, shade and finish;
❤ according to Guerlain Terracota, Enhance
is much lighter and cooler shade, so both products have nothing in common beside
the fact that they are bronzing powders. You should not be afraid from the
shade of the Guerlain’s powder – it is really good product with highest quality
and all superlatives for it are true, but you need to work with light hand and
carefully: it looks beautiful once applied the right way;
❤ Single eyeshadow in the shade 105 Sandstone, contain 2.6gr of
product and are
based in identical to the powder’s packaging – simple, clear and stable. Shade is
light taupe nude with cool undertone and satin finish.
Consistency is a bit dry but nevertheless easy to apply & blend.
Pigmentation is medium and allows you to blend effortlessly.
This eyeshadow is perfect for wearing
all over the mobile lid + some black liner for polished, sophisticated everyday
makeup look. My skin is medium deep and this eyeshadow isn’t suitable for
applying in the crease, since is not dark enough, but if you have lighter skin
this might work as crease shade for you.
I compared Enhance with 2
other eyeshadows that look similar to me in the pan, but on my skin don’t look
similar at all:
❤ according to the
platinum shade from the palette Comfort Zone by Wet’n’Wild (review here), Sandstone is much darker,
greyish and matter shade;
❤ according to the
light taupe shade from the palette Magnifyes Crimson Edition by Rimmel, Sandstone is much darker, brownier and matter shade;
Sandstone is great shade
to apply as contouring product as well, since it has that cool grey undertone
and it looks quite natural on the skin, so I’ll use it this way too.
Mascara is
called Megavolume, it contains 10ml product and it has classic, standard mascara wand
and standard black ink. Honestly I
can’t say anything about the characteristics of this mascara due to the
specific of my own lashes: short, blond, straight, spare and they look good
only in the following combination:
1. curling with eyelash
curler;
2. coat of mascara primer;
3. 2-3 coats of mascara
with silicone wand & curly shape of the brush;
This way is the only way I
can give my lashes curl, volume & length and I know this mascara won’t work
for me on its own. What I can say is that the ink is a bit thicker and drier
from what I am used to, but this is actually a plus for me since this mascara
doesn’t need additional time to be reworked.
In conclusion: this set is
pretty nice according to my liking – I use regularly the
bronzing powder and the eyeshadow, but the mascara isn’t my cup of tea and I won’t
recommend it, but the other 2 products I’ll use on daily bases.
What are your thoughts
with Calvin Klein’s makeup?
Have a nice evening ❤
