I decided to share with you some tips about how to get your nails healthy and
long.
1.The most important tips it to eat healthy and balanced, drink a lot of water and if needed –
taking zinc & mineral supplements. Eating
regularly foods that are rich on proteins, nuts and green veggies will make
your nails grow faster and stronger.
2.File
your nails the right way. If you’re having problems with soft and breakable nails then file them in
one direction.
3.Iron files are not good for your nails –
use glass or paper files. I
personally prefer using paper file, because it shortens and shape my nails with
just few movements.
4.Nail bases and hardeners are must if you’re having soft nails. You can find thousands of nail hardeners and bases, which will not only harden your nails, but they will make them stronger, longer and they’ll make
your nail polish last longer.
5.Pay
attention to the toxic ingredients. Formaldehyde it’s often used in the top coats (like Seche Vite), but you can find top coats that don’t contain it (like Poshe, HK Girl Top Coat). When it comes to nail polishes you can go for 5-Free, 4-Free and 3-Free nail polises. 5-Free са don’t contain Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) and Toluene, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor (Zoya, SNB professional, Catrice, Chanel, Estee Lauder), 4-Free don’t contain Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene and Formaldehyde Resin (Orly, Color Club, MAC), 3-Free don’t contain Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP),Toluene (Essie, Milani, Wet’n’ Wild, OPI, China Glaze, Catherine Arley).
6.Remove
your nail polish the right way. If you’re having soft and breakable
nails then avoid using acetone based nail polish remover and go for acetone
free version. And never peel off
your nail polish – this way you’re removing not only the nail polish itself but
also part of your nails (the top layer) which might make it more breakable and
thinner.
7.Regularly hydrate your nails and cuticles. Oil baths work great on weak nails and regular hydrating keeps your cuticles on place.
8. Pay
attention on the polishing. Polished nails are super pretty, but polishing itself it’s appropriate for healthy and strong nails. If you’re having soft nails, the polish them only when it’s necessary (like if you’re wearing glitter nail polish and the chunks has scratched your nail).
9. Choose
your nail shape the right way. Square shaped nails are really pretty, but this shape it’s appropriate if your nails are strong. For soft and breakable nails better go for oval shape or rounded edges.
10. Spare your nails. Wear gloves when you’re doing the house work and don’t use your nails as an instrument for opening stuffs, removing stickers, etc.
